The F T C cracks on travel scams
TRAVEL has long been a fertile field for Flimflam, but what was a cottage industry has recently been mushrooming in a growth industry. At a press conference in Washington last month, the Federal Trade Commission and the attorneys general of 12 states estimated the cost of travel in connection with fraud in more than $ 12 billion per year and announced a legal and public-relations assault against companies accused of bilking them consumers.

The countries announced that they take legal action against alleged were violated California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Vermont, Washington and Wisconsin.
The Commission has legal action targeted five companies were accused of defrauding the public of a total of $ 43 million, and all 12 states filed lawsuits against either five or other companies that allegedly defrauded consumers.
